C+D COTTAGE

C+D Cottage is a private residence at Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs, a historic residential community with established in 1936. The clients wanted something rugged and refined — a little weird, thoughtfully landscaped, built for entertaining.
At the entry, sculptural agaves and flowering botanicals sit against a deep brown exterior fence, with silvery blues, soft greys and sage greens bringing contrast and depth. A living grape trellis lines the path connecting house and cabana, introducing shade, seasonal color, and a touch of agrarian character.

The pool area was remodeled and the front yard brought into line with the ranch’s historical property HOA guidelines without losing its identity.
Poured concrete, rusted iron, stone, and painted wood form a restrained palette throughout.

The result is scraggly-chic, fragrant, and a very good place to have a drink.
